NAMES.H.A.D.O. Bases and Vehicles
S.H.A.D.O. HeadquartersS.H.A.D.O. Headquarters is the nerve center which transmits orders and receives status from all of the other S.H.A.D.O. facilities and vehicles around the world. This underground complex is secretly hidden beneath a film studio somewhere near London England. Has a main control room with a bank of computers and is manned by communications operatives and computer technicians. Commander Straker's office is also here, plus he has an above-ground "film executive" office which doubles as a giant elevator!

MoonbaseS.H.A.D.O.'s second largest installation is located on the surface of the Moon. This is primarily used a base for the Interceptors, and is staffed by a Moonbase Commander, space trackers, Interceptor pilots, and technicians. It has five main spheres and a central area connected by corridors. It also has a launch pad and tower for the Lunar Module which transports personnel and cargo to and from Earth.

UFOThe main Alien craft is capable of travelling several times the speed of light. It spins rapidly while in flight, and is armed with some sort of destructive energy beam. Each craft seems to hold one or two Aliens. For some reason, it cannot stay in the Earth's atmosphere longer than a few days, otherwise it overheats and explodes. In the bottom of the craft is a small escape pod.

SIDThe name SID is short for "Space Intruder Detector", SID is a satellite in Earth orbit which detects and tracks UFO's. It provides the first warning of a UFO approaching from deep space, and can also track UFO's flying in the Earth's atmosphere. It provides targeting coordinates for the Moonbase Interceptors and Sky fighters, and communicates with Moonbase and S.H.A.D.O. HQ using a monotone voice. Voice of SID: Mel Oxley

Moonbase InterceptorsThese are the first line of defense against incoming UFO's. Housed in silos near Moonbase, there are three of these, each with a single missile. They have a single seat, and the pilots access them via chutes in the Moonbase liesure sphere. The Interceptors are then elevated to ground level and launch. They cannot operate within the Earth's atmosphere.

SkyDiverSubmarine in the Earth's oceans, used for transporting the Sky One jet fighter (docked in the front) or investigating underwater UFO wreckage. Holds a crew of about 6, including a Captain which pilots the fighter. SkyDiver then angles upwards 45 degrees prior to launching the fighter. There is a fleet of at least 4 SkyDivers (called "SkyDiver One", etc.). They are armed with missiles, and nuclear-powered.

Sky OneJet fighter craft for destroying UFO's in the Earth's atmosphere or performing aerial reconnaissance. Launched from SkyDiver. Has a single seat, and is piloted by the Skydiver captain. Armed with missiles which are located underneath each wing. Sky One is launched from Skydiver One, and there is also a "Sky Two", "Sky Three", etc. for each SkyDiver in the fleet.

SHADO MobilesTank-like all-terrain vehicles used for locating and dealing with landed UFO's on Earth. These seat at least two in the front, and have a cargo area in the back. There are at least four Mobiles, one which has a command post in the cargo area. They are armed with turret guns on the top, and are transported to an approximate location by transport planes or trucks.

Ed Straker's SHADO carCommander Straker's personal automobile has powered gull-wing doors and is bronze-colored. Has a built-in car phone and an intruder alarm which notifies S.H.A.D.O. HQ in case of an emergency.

Paul Foster's SHADO carColonel Foster's personal car has powered gull-wing doors and is lilac-colored.

SHADO JeepsSix-wheeled jeeps used for transportation at and around S.H.A.D.O. HQ. Capable of carrying more people and cargo than those sleek gull-winged cars!

Lunar ModuleThe Lunar Module is used for trips between the Earth and Moon, the Lunar Module is responsible for the portion of flight in space. It separates/docks at the rear of the Lunar Carrier plane high in the atmosphere. The module performs a vertical takeoff/landing at Moonbase. It seats at least two people, and presumably has a cargo area for tranporting supplies.

Lunar CarrierThe Lunar Carrier is used for trips between the Earth and Moon, the Lunar Carrier is responsible for the portion of flight within the Earth's atmosphere. The Lunar Module separates/docks at the rear of the carrier high in the atmosphere. The carrier performs vertical takeoff/landing at an airport near S.H.A.D.O. HQ.

Moon MobilesThe Moon Mobiles are housed at Moonbase, these are used for local transporation on the lunar surface, handy for investigating UFO wreckage, visiting other lunar bases, etc. There are at least two of them, each which seat at least two people. They glide above the lunar surface like a hovercraft, and are armed with missiles.

Moon Mobile Rocket LaunchersTank-like vehicles which defend Moonbase from UFO attacks. These are rarely seen, and presumably were built after S.H.A.D.O. had been operational for a while. There are at least two of them, they seem to be unmanned, and fire missiles from a rotating turret on top.
